Bow Foodbank Wins a Faith & Belief Forum Community Award for Response to the Cost-of-Living Crisis

We’re delighted to share that Bow Foodbank has been recognised with a Faith & Belief Forum Community Award for our work supporting local people through the cost-of-living crisis.

This award honours community organisations across London who are building belonging, dignity and connection during a time when hardship continues to rise. We’re incredibly proud that the Faith & Belief Forum has recognised the strength of our community-led response.

What the judges said

The award brochure captured the heart of our work:

“Founded in 2014, Bow Foodbank was created by uniting many faith and community groups to provide a support system for those in crisis or waiting to access benefits. They offer non-referral, judgement-free assistance to all. Bow Foodbank maintains an open-door policy, providing not just food but other essentials, as well as advice and support to those who need it.

They aim to provide free advice that connects clients to an appropriate advisor on the day wherever possible, providing further support to the community of Tower Hamlets. The foodbank has built a model of dignity, openness and sustainability in one of the most deprived areas of London by understanding the barriers to accessing food support, dispelling stigma and ensuring that everyone can access emergency food supplies if they need them.”

What this means for our community

Over the last year, as the cost-of-living crisis has deepened, Bow Foodbank has:

  • Provided 440,000 meals to local households
  • Expanded partnerships with youth services and public health teams
  • Continued offering advice, guidance and connection for neighbours facing insecure housing or hardship

Every part of our work is shaped by what local people tell us they need. Being recognised for responding with dignity, openness and compassion is a huge honour.

Thank you to our community 🫶🏽

This award belongs to:

  • Our incredible volunteers
  • Our community partners and local services
  • The neighbours who trust us to walk alongside them
  • The Faith & Belief Forum for shining a light on grassroots organisations making London more connected and compassionate

Together, we’re building a Tower Hamlets where everyone is supported, included and seen.

Thank you from all the team at the foodbank
