Who we are

We are an independent foodbank that has served the local community since 2014.  We are open to those in need of food support without referral.  In normal times we are able to offer each attendee a choice of ten staple goods once a fortnight, for up to fifteen visits.  Thanks to the generosity of our donors we have been able to offer additional goods to families with children, and offer supplementary items from surplus stock.

Until the COVID crisis of spring 2020 we were based at St Mary’s Church, Bow, where, every Monday morning, we were able to offer food, drink and hospitality alongside the selection of food items.

We have, however, adapted to the new situation, and as the demand has expanded, thanks again to the generosity of donors and volunteers, we have been able to continue providing a more restricted food support service for those who continue to come on a Monday as well a home delivery service for the housebound from our new base at Bromley-by-Bow Community Centre. We hope, as the situation eases, to return to a model that includes more choice and hospitality for those who come on a Monday.

The Bow Foodbank is a registered charity.  The Trustees, drawn from the local community, meet regularly and take an active role in the running of the foodbank.  For list of current trustees, click here: Trustees
